We seek to be an organization, built from the ground up, through partnerships where the ministry needs of the next generation are in “communion” with the resources of our generation. By resources, we don’t merely mean money; rather, prayer, money, expertise, and counsel. Trusting that as folks give “you will be enriched in every way for your great generosity.” - 2 Cor 9:11
We believe that our actual impact in terms of spiritual formation of the next generation will always be something we only begin to gauge a generation from now as our generation begins handing over the bulk of the leadership in our communities to the next generation (so check back in 2048!). Yet, that does not mean we do not have measurable outcomes! We measure these in terms of number of participants multiplied by:
Outdoor Adventure Miles
Community Service Hrs
Intergenerational Wisdom Conovs
Funds Raised (by SLAQers)
All of that was accomplished with a budget under $27,000
As you know, right now is a very difficult time for the next generation, both in the church and the world. Recent Barna research indicates that around 64% of youth drop out of church in their 20's. The recent Atlantic article Why American Teens are so Sad, indicates that youth "dropping out" is not a church phenomenon. Sadly, young people in America are increasingly dropping out of meaningfully engaging life in general. I imagine we could together brainstorm a number of culprits, from secularism, to a World-wide pandemic, to social media addiction, to a war ridden news cycle; there are any number of thieves we could blame. But the question that concerns us is, what does God want the church to do in response?
And by “Church” we mean a coalition of local churches, individuals, buisnesses, and non-profits, that believe together we can offer our youth a pathway to Servant Leadership through Real Life Adventure & Discipleship
As a ministry of Coracle you are able to donate to SLAQ and recieve a tax deductible recipt at the end of the year.
